Hi,

I'm a new member and I'm looking for some info for my brother-in-law. He just bought a '98 24 valve( built May '98). We were wondering if those early model '98's will take a fueling box. My nephew has one and he claims not. He says he has looked into it and supposedly, it won't take one. He is a heavy duty diesel mechanic. Is this true or not? I'd love to hear from anyone with experience in this matter. Thanks.

Andy

my 99 was built in Oct of 98 and it'll take whatever is out there, so I can't believe that your brother-in-law's truck won't accept a fueling box, I think your Nephew is wrong, I bet he thinks it is a 12 valve-- www.performancediesel.net

talk to this guy he will know for sure--plus you can order what you want from him too... chris

You can put the box on it no problem, BUT his early model pump might not like it and it could trash it. Hook it up and if it dose not stop working in a few hours it will most likely run a long time... . If not shell out about $1350. 00 for a new ( and improved) pump...

Your nephew is mistaken, yes all 24v's 98-current can use the same boxes(with the correct connectors)

But, like mentioned in the post above, since it is an early 24v the injection pump may not like a fueling box attached to it. Make sure you check the psi of the fuel system good because there's a good chance the previous owner could have been driving it with a bad lift pump for a long time.

My 98. 5 took my EZ and will take my COMP when I get it next week! Over 50k miles on the EZ and no pump issues. .

BOMBs away!!! :D

Sure an early 98. 5 24 valve will work with the fueling boxes.

I have the Van Aiken CPC and a precision products boost module. I also have the 275 HP injectors.

If you going to up the HP and it has an Automatic transmission, you should consider at least some minimal transmission upgrades such as a Trans Go Performance Shift kit... those are normally only around $200 when you get them installed.

BOMBing an early 24 V

might PM Roger Rodbolt. He dynoed 466 and took two firsts in the sled pulls in Muncie with a 98 24 V. Oo.

I would warn him ,what W-cummins said is true, there is a good chance that a fueling box that taps the pump wire will kill it. You can run the ez,and big injectors with no trouble, but when you tap that pump wire you'll know within 1/2 hr,thats when they usually fail.

those pumps are so bad its possible that the truck already has a new and improved pump under warranty. Mine went out after only 25k. DC bought my new one and I have the wire tapped with no problems. I have a friend tapped his wire on his 99 about a month ago and bought a new pump after 15 minutes operating time. If they are bad they go quick.
