I must be getting old, lemme check, yup I'm old. I am actually happy with the power of my 2001 H. O engine but would like better milage than I'm currently getting. Its good but I'd like even better. Does anybody sell aftermarket performance equipment specifically aimed at improving mileage WITHOUT affecting reliability or durability? If it happens to also increase power I guess I can live with that too HEHE. As my daddy always said, power is like sex ,vacation and money. Enough really is'nt and too much is just right! Really though I am most interested in increasing mileage and as I kept my last truck for 21 years and plan to do the same with this one I really do not want durability to suffer.

Sageair, I think the addition of 275 injectors is just what you need , they will yeild 1 to 1. 5 better milage from what I can tell... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... Kevin:cool:

Can't comment on over 349 hp but ut to this point I have not lost andy MPG but certainly have INCREASED my driving and towing PLEASURE Oo. :D :D  Oo. Oo. Oo.

EZ is worth a few.....

The EZ box jumped me up 1. 5 to 2 MPG. After the injectors there was no real change. The only problem I see is that after the EZ box the go pedal has a tendency to go further to the floor than it used to and thus the MPG drops a little.

Beware though. After the EZ you'll always wonder what injectors and a new turbo can do for you. Heck throw in a 4" exhaust and some gauges and then some transmission mods... ... .....

It never ends. Thank God,

Garrett

Gotta get that timing advanced. EZ or VA for sure.

Let it breathe (BHAF & pull the muffler).

Then a good set of medium sized extrude-honed injectors (DD1's or 2's)

Direct drive to the wheels, no slipping.

Run enough air pressure in the tires.

Keep some good wax on it.

Keep the tailgate up.

Drive downhill only.

mileage

shortshift, you forgot to always have a tailwind. also draft a big truck..... (altho the drivers don' like it too much).

Thats it Redneck,

Sheesh! Were all gonna be over 20mpgs after reading this thread.

A couple more,

Dont push the pedal much until theres enough boost to burn the fuel, smoke is waste (here we go. . I can hear the rebuttal aready :-{}

Keep it under 2100 rpms (17-1800 for optimum mileage)

What was the other one. . oh yea, drive unloaded. .

Thats it, dont drink & drive

Actually the mileage gains are directly related to the amount of money you are no longer having to haul around in the truck!:D

I gained two MPG instantly with the EZ. I elected to go with the timing only option on my box. I later found out that all boxes could be used as timing only if you used jumpers on positions one and two( without seeing a box its hard to explain the jumpers but they are like small fuses) I settled on the middle power setting and have maintained the MPG increase with a great increase in power.
