Huckstorf Diesel open house and Bombing weekend.

This Saturday and Sunday we are gathering at TDR member johnrv4's place in Kenosha. Saturday morning there will be a trip to Huckstorf Diesel for a tour/open house.

There will be some chili cooking for lunch and there is camping nearby in Bong State Park.

Is anyone coming that has access to a timing kit for a 12 valve? I plan on changing my pump and it would help a lot.

respirators

Good idea on the respirators. I'm makin' chili and I heard some nuclear chicken wings were coming:cool: Speaking of chili, is there an approximate head count? Should I make a huge batch or regular sized? I'm guessing 10 guys could eat a lot of chili...

Nick,

I don't have solid numbers, but it looks to be a well attended event. I think Justin and Aaron from Columbus are even coming up! I'd say we could see 15 trucks or more. I can think of at least 11 that are for sures right now.

By the way - get over to the Other forum some time and read your Happy Birthdays. :D

See ya Sat.

timing kit

i have a timing kit. but i cant guarentee i'll be there yet, and i won't be able to get there till 5-6pm anyways. can let you guys know by thursday!

I think we'll have a good turn out

I think that there will be at least 15 people that have confirmed that they will be here. . I was at Huckstorf's shop today, and they are looking forward to having us there Saturday morning. We figured about 9AM. I will try to post directions tomorrow for the guys coming through Milwaukee so they can meet us at Huckstorf's rather than drive to my house first. I hope the weather holds out for maximum bombing( I need a bigger garage). My wife says that people should either bring their own beverage, or email me and let me know what you want to drink. If people want to bring a dish to pass, that would be fine too, but not a requirement. I have video of Scheid and Muncie for those interested in seeing it. I'll try to keep this thread updated with numbers of those attending. There won't be a dyno at this event, but hopefully next year.

15?

Damn!!! I'd better get over to Mom's and borrow the Nesco. My little bachelor sized pots just won't cut it. :)

Maybe that's WHY you're still a bachelor?:D:D

Thanks for the offer of the timing kit, I'm not sure I'll need it yet! My "new" pump has an owie and might not be done in time...

Edit: It should be... But, either way, I shouldn't need the kit! I'm having the "stock" timing set to 15. 5. Still, I hope you can make it.

Maybe 14?

I don't know if I'm gonna be able to make it. I really want to, but it's not looking good. I have to attend a funeral (read wedding) on Saturday. I'm trying to see how thing are looking for Sunday. But no guarantees. Not to mention, I think I'm all BOMBed out. I just finished my Transfer Flow, On Board Air, and am working on my Amsoil Dual Bypass. I don't think I'll have anything left. I'll let you guys know if I'll be able to make it. Sorry, but no wings this time.

sorry guys, i cant make it. purchased a burnt 98 qc, and gotta get it stripped, plus gotta help my pa build a house. hope some of you guys can make it to the dyno on the 26 in wausau.

I should be able to show up for Sat morning session. Would to have liked to stay for the day cause I got a trans line w/port and also some banjos to put in (altho I don't have my fuel line yet:mad: for the senders) but I got to prep some sleds for the asphalt and I need to get working on that this w/e. But at least I will finally get to meet some of u guys... .

Grizz - sorry you won't make it this time. We'll get you to one of our gatherings sometime.

Big and Johnny - looking forward to meeting you guys. Sounds like we're going to have a big crew show up. I'm planning to just go for Sat. , but I'll probably bring a sleeping bag just in case.

Howard?! Meat?

Dave

Big, you can put your tent in the yard if you want, or bring your sleeping bag and sleep on the floor. I think a few guys plan on it. After bombing we can watch some pulling video's, Freakshow II, or the ditch video:D :D It looks like we will have a good turn out. I will try and get the directions posted here for the people going directly to Huckstorf's.

I'm curious what BOMBs are planned. I'll throw a few parts in my truck and if I get a chance to put them on, that might be cool.

I plan to hit the road in the morning as early as possible. I want to miss the Chicago Friday afternoon rush hour (whatare the chances of that though  )

Is anyone able to bring a barring tool?

Stuff I could do...

Change injector pump (if it's done and the opportunity is there)

Install sport headlights & brite box (and fix my fog light while the front bumper is off)

Install ATS manifold (if I get the port matching and painting done tomorrow night)

Install front lift kit and poly sway bar kit.

Install trac bar poly bushing kit.

3 guage A-pillar pod (gauges already installed, need to be moved)

Think I'll get it all done? Me neither but at least I won't be bored!

I'll bring all the tools I think I need plus my 12 valve injector mini slide hammer and delivery valve socket in case someone else needs to borrow it.

We are bringing our tent and sleeping bags & stuff and we would like to camp in the yard (or on the floor if the weather turns bad).

Linda will make brownies for Basement Saver Dave, what else (besides snacks and beverages) should we bring?

chili

Chili is cookin' as I type this. Tums or rolaids might be in order. Not that it's real spicy, I prefer to call it robust!!! Hope John installed fans in his garage!!:-laf :-laf

I don't have many tools but would be more than happy to bring anything I have... Post here and I'll bring it if I have it. Sawz-all and hammers are on the list already.

Nixter

Thanks Nixter!

That should make the pump install a snap! Linda read your post and will be bringing a repirator.

I know the pump install is a biggie and I don't want to hog all the garage time so it can wait. Everything else I can do outside (I'll do it outside at home anyway).

I have Jason's lube but the (International) filter place doesn't stock the numbers he needed. Linda made Basement Saver (and the rest of us) brownies.

I got the lowdown on a cheap exhaust option when I picked up my pump today. I'll bring details.

The brite box came but the manifold isn't ready yet so it will stay home (it is really cool though).
