I already have a VA box on my truck for about a year now. Great improvement all by its self.

I just bought a set of Bosch 275RV injectors and a PS boost module and elbow that I will be installing over the next couple of weeks. My question is, What can I expect from these changes?

What boost presures, EGT's, HP & torque gains can I expect? My clutch is still stock. Will it take the additional power?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Bombing

George

When you add the 275's your EGT's will go up significantly. You will need to either eliminate your mufler or go to 4".

Your clutch will depend on how you drive it.

You will really like the increase in HP.

George;

A buddy of mine has the same set-up on his 98. 5 3500. He loves it! With the addition of a K&N replacement, or maybe Amsoil replacement (I can't remember right now), he netted 300 hp at the rear wheels at the track. He uses it to tow a 29 ft horse gooseneck and has had no troubles with EGTs or the Clutch. He reciently did remove the Muffler and left the Resonator on there. He feels that this is a great towing set-up and I agree. I'd put the injectors and the PS on there and drive it! If you feel the need for a 4" exhaust or removing the Mufler, then do it. As for the cluitch, this truck has over 80,000 miles on it and it's still the stock clutch, heck, he just reciently replaced the front disc brake pads and he doesn't even have a exhaust brake! I hope my brake pads last that long.

Good luck, Josiah

just my $. 02

since I have an 01 eth, my results are a bit different.

with 275's, diablo power puck (cpc box like the VA, and edge ez)

I saw 38 psi (I need a bigger turbo) and 1150F on the dyno. My power numbers will be different than yours (294) but I would guess you should be close to 280 to the ground.

Get rid of the stock muffler (cork) and put something on it that breaths. Stay away from the Allied 3"muffler. While this unit is a straight through design, the internal louvers and baffle create enough turbulence above 2000 rpm to raise EGT (been there done that)

You do not need a 4" unless you just want the cool sound.

since you have a 5 spd... you should be ok in the clutch department

Sounds like fun!

OK, If I stay with the stock exaust system but change the muffler, who's muffler do you all recomend? If I simply remove the muffler and install a straight thru pipe how load will it be?

I disagree with the need to remove the muffler. DD1's and a VA with a boost module would not generate EGT's over 1300 with the stock exhuast no matter how hard you tried. With that combo you should be able to make 28-32 PSI of boost and 1100 degrees in a hurry. The EGT will go up in a hurry, then come back down as the boost gets up. You will have a huge power gain seat of the pants. As much as the VA gave you and then some. You should make somewhere around 275 HP at the rear wheels and about 570 torque. It is a great towing setup. The clutch is probably a coin toss as to how long it lasts with the added power.

A little off the subject but...

While we are talking about combining two different types of boxes. Is there any advantage in adding a torque dog to my set up. I already have an EZ installed. Stock injectors, with 4" exh laying on the shop floor waiting for me to put it on.

TNT, you do not want to use the torque dog and the EZ at the same time if all the connections are made. Two timing boxes is not a good idea. What you could do is disconnect the EZ data link connection (three wire plug under the injection pump) and hook up the torque dog normally. Then you would be using your EZ as a boost module and the torque dog would be doing all the timing and fueling changes. You may or may not like that setup better than the EZ alone fully connected. If you try it post and let us know what you think of the differences if there are any. Hope this helps.
