Well, at first I said to myself, I don't need any more power. Then the more I read here I don't think I'll be able to hold off much longer. Here are my questions. A friend of mine has installed a box of some sort and has pulled his muffler off and straight piped his exhaust. He has a 03 3500 dually and pulls frequently. I know he does not have any gauges. How dangerous is this to the engine to not be able to monitor EGT'S. I do not want to take any chances with mine and would pass on what I find out here. Also should I wait for the next generation boxes to come out. I also do some hauling with a gooseneck so I want to be safe. Thanks!

i think BEFORE any fueling boxes gauges are a MUST. Exhaust and Air cleaners etc are one thing but when fueling and timing etc messed with better know what EGT"S are!

what DP said

Could be fatal... ... . to your engine. Especially if your towing a load, your egt's can get up there in a hurry. Without gauge's, your driving bllind!

You must install guages. With a bone stock SO engine hauling a 4 horse stock trailer (aluminum) I can hit 1200* no problem. If you install an EZ with the boost elbow the added boost helps with egt's to keep them in check. I the truck with 5" exhaust, Air Filter, and EZ I have a harder time hitting 1200*. I can do it though and I let off. With the guages the key is lifting off the throttle when you hit 1200*. Without them you'll never know when to lift..... Greg
