O. K. my rookie bombing session tonight included installing a pyro and boost and a 16cm housing. Got the turbo off freezing my *** off in the process flopped it on the bench and reached for my 2lb copper mallet. Five minutes later reached for my 3lb ball pein. Five minutes after that the 5lb sledge came out. After thouroughly beating the crap out of the housing it finally shook loose. New one went on easy and drilled my pyro hole while I was at it. Of course somehow pooked a hole in the tubing going to the boost guage. The "Ol'blue" specials are on the bench and that will be next weekends project. :D :--) :D

Dfeland,

Glad to hear that you got the turbo separated.

There is an easier way and less likely to cause any damage. If you put something between the end of the four bolts and the compressor side of the turbo then just turn the bolts out and the two pieces will separate. :D Those injectors will really wake up the sleeping CTD. :D

If you can swing it, now is the time to set up your pump timing.

When you have your injecter lines loose. ITs easy to take the lines of the pump and set timing. Lust thinking.

Harlan:rolleyes:

Dan I hear what you are saying about the turbo they kinda get stuck, Piers told me to loosen the four bolts while it was still on the truck then pop the turbo loose (used a dead blow mallet hammer) to get it loose when I changed the housing. Made and decisions on the transmission yet.

turbo

I tried the bolt method and two of them broke off because they (i assume) were to long to being with and the first couple of threads were damaged judging by the two that came out and did not break. I have pretty well decided that the flexplate is cracked. I am going to do the trans as well but I don't think that I will spring for the DTT stuff. I would sure love to and by everyone's recommendations sems like a good way to go. However I have talked to several people who have run the TCI convertor and say they love it. Its half the cost of DTT. Right now after having spent money on injectors and guages and I am going to Moab in may I am just a little short.
