Hey JCleary, Does the PMCR have built in gauges, or would I need to install a set? What is the difference in the R47 and R49 remotes? How hard was it to install and about how long did it take? Did your fuel mileage get any better? I honestly dont know much about the TST... I have just been stuck on the Edge. I tried to go to the TST website but for some reason my computer keeps telling me that there is a network error.
Van_Blom, Wouldn't they be able to see that I have different injectors, or would I just need to remove them? How much does a set of 50 hp Injectors run?
The R49 is the one to get. It has boost/EGT (digital) readouts, and it also comes with automatic cool-down and you can get adjustable timing. It's a great unit, and you'll never outgrow it.
Install the first time may take a couple of hours (drilling for the EGT probe, first time trying the cam/crank sensors), but once you've done it, it will take only about 15 minutes.
Compared to everything else, the TST might seem like the "Atari" of power adders. Ancient-looking remote w/o a lot of flash, but it's what's inside that counts. It's performance speaks for itself. Plus, the wiring harnesses are as good or better than OEM. It will last a long time.
Injectors can run from $600 to $1200 depending on where you get them. Some companies sell tips, some exchange the entire injector for you, and some will take your injectors and give them the magic treatment of choice.
A couple of things about 3rd gen injectors-
-Only a couple of shops have the equipment needed to test our injectors. Be careful who you trust.
-The labor to swap sticks is expensive, about $600 or so in my area.
-The mechanic doing the work must be very careful to do the swap correctly. I have heard several horror stories of crankcases getting filled with diesel due to sloppy injector installations. This can be a costly mistake.
-Do not exchange your injectors. Your low-mileage sticks may be exchanged for some 200,000 mile injectors. There's really no way to tell, either.
I'd recommend getting
this guy's injectors when they're available. Never heard a negative thing about his. If you're going to use a TST, then go with the lowest HP injector. The stock CP3 won't be able to handle any more.
Injectors are not able to be detected by the dealer, unless you have an injector problem and they need to swap a couple. If it were me, I'd find an extra set on Ebay and get those done. That way you still have your stockers if you need 'em.
