FSM- Factory Service Manual.. where can i get one?

Product Engineering 41, 42 and 4300 pumps

Ok, now that I overcame my anal-cranial insertion syndrome (with a little help from my friends) the EZ is in and I am all:D

I didn't notice the timing "hammer" that LSMITH always talks about with this box. It DOES make it a little louder when you stick your foot in it (OK, it's more like a tiger leaping out of its cage), but if I want, I can drive my truck exactly like is was stock (now why would I do that?).

I found a local shop that carried the Edge products, and i left with the EZ instead of waiting on the COMP. For where I am headed (<400HP) I don't really need to tap the wire, as I am making my power with injectors.

Fuel pressure seems to be holding quite well, but it takes a LOT less pedal to get the FP gauge to dive to 10. Overall FP doesn't seem to go any lower than stock.

EGT and Boost are going in soon, so I am holding off on the DD3s. C'est la vie, clutch!

Overall, it's a nice warmup to the engine. It's not going to blow you away with power, but I like it a lot. It makes the truck feel like NOTHING could stop you from going the speed you wish to.

Since my overall goal is 350-375 HP, can I get there with just DD3s and the EZ? Or should I be looking at one stage higher on the injectors?

"Alas, poor clutch... . I knew him well. . "

From the Diesel Dynamics graph , you should be at 350hp with *just* the stage 3 injectors and supporting hardware (ie. boost module).

The EZ is supposed to be worth 60-ish by itself.

With the combination of these two I think that 350 to 375 should be attainable.

EZ and 3's should get you a solid 350HP,375 is pushing it,with just an EZ, but you never know you may have a strong truck from the factory. If you want 375 you may need supermentals or a Comp box,Ive heard the supermentals dont smoke much more than dd3's,they should get you a solid 375 hp.

OKAY! Thanks for the heads up. I think i will go with the DD3s even if I am shy of my actual HP goal. I want to try and cheat and stay with the stock turbo for as long as i can. I won't be doing any heavy towing, and DD seems to say that the only reason that they recommend turbo upgrades with DD3s is because of EGT issues when towing. I will have a PYRO in by then, and I am willing to drive by it.

I take back what I said about timing hammer. There IS a noticeable increase in timing clatter. However, the engine doesn't seem unhappy with it. It seems to me that the EZ adds a TON of low end, and quite a bit less on top.

Edge's web site has a dyno chart of an ETH with the EZ and it tops 700lb-ft at peak. I would like to believe that, but I think that I am probably more like 600lb-ft at the wheels.

I am less concerned with the HP number than the tq. When i add the DD3s, how many lb-ft would be a good guesstimate it would put down with the stock turbo? Yes, I only plan on 350-375 HP, but I want the most torque I can get at that HP level.

i am also going to try to milk as many miles as I can from the stock clutch after the injectors, which means having to drive REALLY carefully, always starting in 1st, etc... I think Supermentals would make it next to impossible to get any life out of the stock clutch. Plus, there's the issue of finding a way of getting and installing the injectors w/o a trip to Vegas. I want something I can just order and install myself or have a local shop do it.

What numbers could I expect to see with DD3s and EZ only? (I installed the EZ's boost elbow) I am thinking (based on conservative 220HP/475lb-ft stock) that I should be able to get 375HP/830ish lb-ft)

Who has the EZ+DD3 combo and has dynoed it on an ETH?

Hohn

EDIT: Hohn needs to learn to type. .
