Guys,

My 01 has no engine mods and I've had a situation occur I'd like some advice on.

I started up and drove about 5 minutes the other day, pulled out on the ol' 460 bypass and hammered it. I left a pretty good cloud of smoke. This was up in the 2k range, so I had good boost. Since then, I've paid attention and it smokes "some" under moderate acceleration when the engine isn't up to operating temp. After full warmup, I can't see it smoke much under a hard pull.

I've never noticed this before. It has NEVER smoked as bad as I described above. I have good fuel pressure (9psi WOT), boost(21 WOT) and my mpg are in the 19-22 range constantly.

I'm nervous about the injector pump. Should I be? I have 22k miles on it.

Thanks for any advice or thoughts!!!

Chris

I'm certainly no expert, but it sounds like not enough boost "air". Might check for a leak at one of the clamps from the turbo and intercooler and from the intercooler and air intake horn. They seem to get loose in time.

Hey,

Thanks for the advice/thoughts. I'll check the clamps tonight. It is making good boost.

Thanks for the suggestion about the air filter. I checked the filter minder at the last oil change (20K) but will physically check it tonight.

Thanks again,

Chris

I dont think its nothing to worry about. Before I had mod it would do the same, it would smoke for a bit until it hit operating temps. Then it would be a lot less.
