No, I'd never make it as a mechanic! Today, I changed the oil, air & fuel filters. Not noticing which way the old air filter came out, I studied the new one as to which way must be correct (even had a 50-50 chance. ) After putting everything back together, and priming the fuel system, I cranked it and it fired for a split second, but died. Did that twice. Cranked a little longer the third time "to get more fuel in there". When it failed to even try to start, I checked under the hood to see the air ducting sucked in on itself, and slowly releasing back out.

Lesson: The '93's won't start/run with the air filter in backwards.

Cheers!

A518 Lost 4th Gear. Lots of post recently. It is now on the third page. Long story short. He unhooked the TPS and then when about driving. Low and behold, no OD. He begins his post a day or two later with"OK I'm stupid", and fesses up to what happened. We all have done such as this. There was a long series about goofups last month (or was it two). I can't tell you where to find it but it was very funny. Most of the regular guys posted something from the past that was their most memorable screw up.

Welcome to TDR. We may laugh with you from time to time and at you also but we all have something similar.

OK, they say confession is good for the soul. When changing oil filters, I'll slip one of those little pink refrigerator bowl covers - the kind with the elastic band around it - over the turbo inlet after I pull the BHAF to get some working room. I got in a rush once and was gonna fire up the truck to check for leaks before reinstalling the BHAF. Yep, you guessed it - sucked that bowl cover right into the turbo inlet! Fortunately, no damage done before the engine died from asphyxiation. :(
