Our 98. 5 24v has been running bad when cold no power then it will just pick up and run fine been doing it for about a years. I came home for Thanksgiving so I thought I would try and read some codes with the smarty……P0216 :{ not the number I wanted to see so the vp44 is probably the problem any thing I should check before I get a new injector pump? LP is good seeing about 7 psi @ WOT 12psi @ idle the truck is stock except for the Rv275 injectors VP44 was new 60k ago and always keep a watch on the fuel pressure.

Your pressure seems low for a Glacier setup. Has it always been like that or did you remove some of the adjustment shims in the bypass valve? Where do you get your pressure reading?

When I replaced my VP with the Blue Chip, Chip said that 0216 meant a timing problem with the pump, something internal wears enough to throw it out of calibration specs.

Simple checks:

Clean fuel filter?

Air getting in the fuel lines? When you bump the starter without starting, does the lift pump make any clicking sounds while it's building pressure? That's cavitation from air in the lines.

Disconnect fuel line at VP and bump the starter. Let the fuel run in a bucket. You should get about 1/2 gallon in 20 seconds, and it should run clear, no bubbles or foaming.

If all that checks, start looking at your VP.

The truck in my signature is my 99 the truck I’m having problem with is one of my dad’s fleet truck that one of our workers drives. I love my glacier pump never see less than 10 psi @ WOT usually 14-16 psi just driving I have been trying to talk my dad into getting glacier pumps for all of our fleet trucks but he does not see the important of good fuel pressure maybe after he has to buy a few more vp44 he will start to consider a alternative lift pump :D

Code 216 is the slow death of the VP44, that means that the electric part of the pump is going first. I replaced my pump two weeks later.
