Can anyone tell me which manual from Chrysler has the crank sensor in it? I have the two volume set of service manuals and it is not in them.

I see you have a 2001..... you don't have a crankshaft position sensor. Its not used anymore... you use the camshaft position sensor.

hmmmmm.....

My truck is a 2001 ETC with an AT. I had an erratic idle problem and took it into the shop on Monday. The tech said he replaced the crank sensor and the repair ticket shows the same. Part number was 5080577AA. So, does anyone know if that part number is for a crank or a cam sensor? Whatever was replaced did the trick. The tach is VERY steady during idle now.

The information your looking for tho is in the Orange service manaul (2000) and its chapter 14 page 114.

In the supplement (green book) for 2001's it will state in chapter 14 that the CKP is no longer used.

book for sensor

Sorry Kat,

I forgot my signature isn't there anymore. My truck is a 2001 HO model. I have the two volume set and neither is labelled as a supplement. Chapter 14 is for "Fuel Delivery-Diesel". Is there a supplement I don't know about?

something wierd is going on. I will either have four replies or none at all.

My truck is a 2001 HO model. I have the two volume set labelled Service Manual Vol 1 and Vol 2. Neither is referred to as a supplement. Is there a suppliment that came out after I bought these?

Well you have two different posts. This one had dropped off to the second page.

I have a thick orange book and a small green book.

Maybe I bought mine before they made them like yours?

Just look up Crankshaft Position Sensor in your index.

Did you buy them from DaimlerChrysler? Or do you have another brand? I ordered mine from the number in the back of the owners manual.

book for cam sensor

Mine are published br Daimler-Chrysler for the year 2001. I want to know what is involved in changing the cam sensor and if there is any positional adjustment required or possible. I'm wondering if my timing might be slightly retarded from the average.

The camshaft position sensor is also located in Chapter 14. Yes its the Diesel Fuel Injection system chapter.

Scanning picture out of service manual. Be just a second.

CAm sensor found

Thanks, KatDiesel,

The scans answered my question. There is no adjustment of the sensor. I was wondering if it could be slid one way or the other.
