Hey Group,

Recently read on the forum here where a little more boost might bring the EGT’s down. I’m thinking that sounds great! I’ve got an 01 ½ - 2500 with an auto, and (Dare I mention it?) Banks Big Hoss! <GASP!!> (s’ok, I’m pleased with it). Oh yes, and the 4” AFE exhaust throughout.

The Banks isn’t messing with boost as far as I can tell cuz I’m still showing 20-21 psi, which I understand is normal. Generally I don’t have too much problem with my 9k trailer pulling Colorado passes but the EGT’s get up there, and I do back it off when I see 1250 or 1300 degrees Pre-turbo.

What I think I’d like to do is get the ADD(boost fooler) from Haisley and a J hook, and bring the boost up to about 25 psi and hopefully bring EGT down. Is the J hook adjustable to dial in the desired boost rate or does it just boost to 30+? Oh, I did read also that the 01’s have an adjustment screw for the wastegate, maybe all I need to do is tweak that once the ADD is in place. Any thoughts and/or consequences with this setup?

Thanks in Advance for your inputs.

I say do it. It wont hurt with the fuel you have. From what i've read on other threads about your hy turbo is it is useless to go above 30psi with it though. Another thing is skip the j-hook if you get an A. D. D because it comes with a plug for your turbo which is way cool.

Thanks for the replies guys... this is sounding pretty good so far. Based on your sig, "j-hook set for 31 psi " it appears the j hook is adjustable and can be set at desired levels.

In response to Ebung, The turbo plug won't limit the boost to a preset level right? Is the amount of boost then controlled by the right foot?

No I would be willing to guess that the Banks box wouldn't be capable of overboosting your turbo but I could be wrong so go ahead buy a j-hook. :D

oh, allright... well sounds like I can do this in steps, I'll try the ADD and plug and see what happens with the boost levels, then get the J-hook if necessary. Great, Thanks!
