Boost-EGT's Hi Fellas, A few questions for you... . First off, my truck is stock except for the K-N. It has the 21cm housing. Now have guages (thanks Pastor Bob and 24 Valve Chevy). The highest boost reading is 12lbs on a long hill, running empty, and at sea level, with it pegged to the floor. 1) What is normal boost for a stocker? 2) Is boost influenced by elevation, atmospheric air pressure, and ambiant air temprature? Also, I've been unable to get the pyro into the yellow (1050 degree) during that long uphill pull. 3) Does the pyro temp. seem normal? 4) Could it be effected by winter-diesel fuel or fuel additives? 5) Muffler? Any thoughts on these questions... ... ? Thanks... .

1. Maybe 14 with a load and a long uphill.

2. Yes, Cooler air is more dense "**intercooler**"

3. No fuel = no heat (1050 degree) I like to stay below 900 sensing after the turbine. I think your temp is inacurate at that boost pressure.

4. Maybe, less btu with the blended fuel. Can't think of the work Cetane?

5. Stock exhaust sucks bigtime. Look at the down pipe near the transmission brace and also the loop over the rear end. (pinched in half)

These stock systems were engineered to work in a wide range of enviroments and conditions. Not to mention emissions standards and a weak drivetrain MHO. Most people in those days did not know how to drive a torquey cummins. That stock setup would last a long time.

You have the right year. Just get a 16 CM houseing, good air filter and exhaust and enjoy. You can dial in whatever boost you want to at least 25#

Just a heads up on the pyro readings. There is at least a 300* difference between pre and post turbo readings. Pre-turbo you do not want to exceed 1250-1300* for any length of time or you may be looking at a melt-down.
