I installed a TST boost elbow on my truck today and prompty went for a drive, mind you all I really have done is unsprung afc and the stock plate slid forward... . I also installed my boost gauge. When the boost gauge hits around 30 psi or so, the turbo makes an intresting noise. . sounds like its grabbed a gear and is spinning 2X faster or something. . hard to explain. I can only get 32-33psi out of it which about perfect from what I have been reading. My 215 pump seems to run hard until about 2300-2400 thats when the boost starts to die down due to the defueling... gotta get that 3K GSK!
The groaning sound I am describing - is that normal?
I've searched, couldnt find anything like it... . I'm also looking at purchasing a dodgezilla & some PDR 370s. . other than a smoked stock clutch, what kind of EGTs can I expect? The turbo has the unwasted 16cm/2 housing and I will be running a #100 plate. Also, what kind of boost #s can I expect to see with the unwasted housing? At what point do I have to start worrying about head gasket issues? It's important to me to keep the bombs to the point where I dont have to do internal engine work (fire ring head etc) I realize the clutch wont be the cheapest upgrade but it will need to be done, I'm thinking Con OFE for that... sheesh you guys werent kidding this hobby sure is addicting!!!
