i believe that would exceed the useable boost pressure and air temp that the stock turbo produces

I think i read that about 35 lbs is most on stock turbo before the turbo spins fast enough to create too much heat in the air charge

that should support 350 HP right? (10hp per 1 lb of boost?)

we used to do that on the 12 valve trucks, but I am told now it sets the code on the computer. the down fall is driving off the gauges, using the throttle to control boost.

I ask because I haven't seen this discussed, and I have already done it, and it's been this way for 5000 miles. :D

I have an EZ, 4" exhaust, and afe, and my X-Monitor's highest logged boost is 37. 5. Truck runs great...

I haven't had any trouble codes related to this mod. I have had a code for "insufficent torque converter slip" due to my ATS transmission, T/C and Trans Commander and that's it.

i've wondered myself ... if 35 psi is safe for the 35 turbos then why didn't cummins just wastegate'em there in the first place ... power would be the same with less heat and emissions ... i'm kinda leary about using a boost elbow or the j-hook thingy for my hy

Also should be noted that I haven't been able to get higher than 1150* EGTs. Towing heavy, uphill, haulin' a$$, etc. 1150 is it...

ahh yes, i wise man once told me boost is created with fuel. . so you only have enough fuel to build 37 lbs... BUT add tst box and dd2s and then close off the wastegate, watch out!!

i bet that turbo would spin into orbit - 50lbs plus ?

I've got the TST box on order. I'm thinking I had better put an elbow back on at that time. Don't need the little turbo going into orbit anytime soon. :D

My boost elbow is completely blocked with my edge on level 4 I can get 43lbs of boost... . I stacked a second box (unknown name... with timing controls) and had 52 lbs

The stock HY35 is not efficient over about 24-25 psi, where it is wastegated. EGT's actually go up faster at higher boost because you have just superheated the air. It's also a good way to pop the turbo.

I know this has been hashed out in another thread but I have done back to back pulls with the same load on the same run with the EZ on lvl4 with out the elbow and then with the elbow. With out I made 27lbs of boost and hit 1350* then with the elbow I made 34lbs of boost and hit 1250* so I am and will continue to run the boost elbow. I am not saying all trucks like the elbow but mine does so I am sticking with it.

I have never had over 1150* pre turbo, towing 10,000lbs. in the Sierras, etc...

Lance. . you will go WAY over that with the box you have ordered. . and be in the trouble zone much of the time... especially as you head up higher or have the 4x4 crawler in tow. ,,,,start thinking of a quick spooling larger turbo asap to help ya out, cause you'll love the power from the box and altitude is an enemy of air availability
