I don't know much about a boost elbow. Is this something I need to consider with my tst upgrade? Cost? and from who?

I had a TST box on my 2000 and I was very happy with it. Only thing I don't like so far with the '03 is the 4. 10 rear. I am considering having the ring gear changed to a 3. 73, but might wait until I need the rear rebuilt. Any thoughts? I tow allot! A whole lot! adverage 18,000 lbs. But my 3. 55 on the '00 was nice on the hywayand didn't seem to have a problem off the line either.

I don't know about your particular Turbo but on my 2001, when I got my first EZ, it came with a boost elbow. It is a metered orifice that allows the turbo to build more boost before the waste gate senses that it needs to open. The down side is that if you just put in the elbow without the EZ or associated box that one usually buys, the truck's ecm will see the excess boost and most likely set a code. ;)

not sure about the elbow but if u tow that heavy your better off with the gears you have and if you do a search there is minimal difference in milage between the 3. 73 and 4. 10.

the elbow comes with the TST box, BUT IMO the boost is too high (like 40+ psi)

i am looking for an EZ boost elbow, that would yield about 35 psi... not so bad

Once you start getting over the 40 psi boost range as I understand it and closer to 50 psi, as I understand it, you can start blowing things to heck in a hand basket. Head gaskets are the weak point when getting to these pressures of boost. I believe this is why some will have their heads O-ringed or Fire-ringed. Thats my understanding. :)
