Well it looks like I'm about to win a set of RV275 injectors on eBay. I've read a little about boost foolers but it seems that most people say you don't need one with just RV275's. What do you guys think?

Is there anything else I'll need to go along with the injectors? That's my only upgrade for now besides the Scotty II. No other little stuff? I'll have gauges in by the time I install the injectors. What about banjo bolts? Do they apply to injector installs? (I still haven't figured out what they actually do)

Thanks for the help.

Yes it is best to get a boost fooler. If not there, you will have the motor de-fuel at 2-22 lbs of boost.

The best way is to match the 272's with a box like the Edge E-Z. The boost fooler is built in and the box will help power and maybe mileage. This is a great up-grade for a heavy hauler.

And of course you better put in a EGT and Fuel pressure guage first.

The banjo bolts are for the fuel line they will help keep the pressure up.

I agree with fox, my Edge EZ died when it was about a year old. When I removed it to send it to the factory, the egt's went up with my 275's and stock boost. I recieved the new one (no charge) before they had time to get my old one, they seem to be a great outfit.

The whole point of getting injectors was that they were only going to cost about $250. Now we're increasing the cost of this project to well over $600 and I don't need the extra horsepower or the clutch problems. I also don't want to start messing with electronics just yet.

What is a true boost fooler and where can I get one, or is boost elbow the correct term? I've read about people using a spent . 22 shell to counter the wastegate. How does this work and is it the best option?

Thanks.

A boost fooler is an electronic piece that sends info to your engine control unit. A boost elbow is a mechanical elbow that is in the wastegate line to allow the boost to build up more before the wastegate opens (larger orifice than stock). If you want higher boost, you MUST use a boost fooler so your engine won't set a trouble code. In order to GET higher boost, bigger injectors and/or a box (EZ, Comp, DDUFM, TTPM,etc) will be needed. As mentioned before, most boxes have the boost fooler built in.

extra fuel is kinda useless without extra air. A boost fooler only plugs into you map, dodge calls it something else. To alter the signal slightly to not read above 22 psi. I paid 150 bucks, what a ripoff, for a boost fooler. Prolly 5 or 6 bucks in parts. As the others have stated. An ez is the best bang for the buck and it leaves you with more power on tap. You only have to use what you need. At the very least the ez will give you even better fuel mileage. I had an edge comp on my last truck that I never turned on. It works as a boost fooler even when off.

Sorry that you have to buy another piece to make your injectors work. But its par for the course on the electronic engines. I gave my old boost fooler to another member otherwise you could have it.

HH:

I ran 275's for a while without a boost fooler and they work fine. You may notice the egts might get a bit high at times but not that often. You will feel the difference with the injectors not huge but a difference nonetheless. As mentioned above you can get just a boost fooler and elbow from Gordon at Practical Solutions for way less than an ez or whatever but if you ever do buy an ez or whatever box it will more than likely have a boost fooler built in and then the money spent on the fooler will be down the drain. The boost fooler will clip the voltage from the map sensor so it never sees say over 20psi and then your engine will not defuel above that point which it will not get anyway because of the wastegate. So for a boost fooler to be effective you also need a boost elbow (or whatever method you choose ie 22 shell) to keep the wastegate from opening. I personaly would have no problem running 275's without a fooler/or box. In fact the 275's come stock in the rv version of the engine and it is limited to the same boost levels as ours if I recall correctly. I would run without and just save up for an ez or whatever and put it in down the road. Also banjo bolts are certainly not necessary for just running 275's many members are running much higher hp than that with the stock banjos. Keep your eyes on the classifieds for a box or a fooler you might find one pretty cheap.

hh, im curious about injectors from ebay. i would like to know why they sell so much cheaper than say TST. they are about $480 from TST and they are much cheaper on ebay. thanks for input. mark

EBAY injectors

I purchased 2 sets from the Ebay guy an they work great. I put one set in my truck and the other in a buddys. They are new, factory injectors and with an EZ... well, they are very nice. I see 35lbs of boost and I plugged the waste gate. Any more fuel and i'll have to get a bigger turbo and a new clutch. Heavy, don't get too worried about "electronics" upgrades to your truck. They may sound intimidating but are a breeze to install. The hardest part is climbing in the engine bay or on a step stool to plug them in. Look around and you just might find a used EZ for really cheap. It really makes driving much more fun. Gauges first, though. :)

Steve.

if you cant get and ez now wait and get an ez and 275s at the same time or better yet just put the ez on you might be happy with just that.

A friend of mine is running bully dog 1's which are 60hp??? without a boost fooler, it gets a little hot but definatly managable, it has'nt set an overboost code and still only produces 22lbs of boost. I would run them alone and then get an Edge EZ or equivalent.
