Superior Friction Reduction

I have a Banks boost guage. What is the best place to read manifold boost? The instructions are very vague. Says to find a plug in the manifold and unscrew that. Doesn't say where or anything. The sendor uses 1/8" NPT. I was thinking just drilling/taping into the air ram.

You can drill and tap into the air horn. There is also a plug on the intake manifold that can be removed - it's in different locations depending on 12V/24V, and in the case of 24V heads needs to be reduced (think it's a 3/4").

The best bet is to get a boost bolt - call Genos Garage at 1-800-755-1715. It replaces an intake manifold bolt and allows boost pressure to be read from the last point in the path before the cylinders.

Installing Boost Gauge on the 24 valve Engine 1998-2000

The easiest way to install a boost gauge on a 24V Dodge is to first aquire a 3/4" NPT to 1/8" NPT reducer fitting. next locate the 3/4" NPT pipe plug in the intake manifold. The best one of these to use is located on the back of the engine between the fuel filter and the firewall. The 3/4" NPT plug has a 1/2" square in the center of it and can be removed easily with a 1/2" drive ratchet and extention. Replace the 3/4" NPT factory plug with the reducer plug and the fittings that come with the boost gauge tubing kit will now fit and allow the tubing to be ran from the intake manifold to the boost gauge.

I used the plug on the side of the engine block and it is really clean! You don't see the boost tubing at all from the engine compartment.

Thanks guys. I'll take a look.

BTW, the boost bolt is ~$8 from Geno's. I didn't order it, was waiting to find more info in this thread before I did.
