I have an Autometer sport-comp boost guage on my truck which has performed fine for about a year. On a recent trip (actually been away from home for most of the past 6 weeks so have lost out on what is going on on these boards), I suddenly noticed that under any excelleration or pulling, the gauge needle flutters so rapidly as to be little more than a blur about the width of 2 psi on the gauge.

Any one know what causes this or what might cure it?

I would appreciate any guidance.

What I have done many times for a gauge damper is this. Find any fitting inline to the gauge that can be soldered. Romove it and clean it up with steel wool so the solder will stick. Completely solder closed one end of the fitting. Drill a small hole on the solder to open a small air passageway. I have a tiny #80 drill I use for air, slightly larger for liquid. Anything smaller than 1/32" should work fine. I have used this method on aircraft engine manifold pressure gauges with great results.
