boost, how hi is to high

Ok, I have ran the ez boost elbow for over a year and love it. I could hit 39lbs no problem and the ez was on 5. The truck has ran like a champ the whole time. After reading other post I put on the stock elbow and the ez on 4. I am really disapointed with the proformance now so I will retun it to the ez on 5 and the ez elbow. My question is how much boost is to high for a stock motor. And I drive by the gagues so I keep it under 1200 egt and back off around 32lbs of boost.

Don't quote me on this but I thought I read a few posts awhile back that said around 45 or 50 lbs was the upper limit for the head gasket. I'm sure that is in short bursts and not prolonged hill climbing!

When it blows up, it was too high.
