Boost Issue

When pulling a grade with my travel trailer, the EGT will be from 1,200 to 1,300 and the boost from 28 to 30 lbs. Now, same grade, EGT 1,200 to 1,300 however, boost is only 10lbs. Power seems to be there but why is the boost only 1 lbs?? Any thoughts?

Bwfairchild: does power feel the same? Likely a leak in boost gauge line? Maybe a boost leak somewhere between turbo and intake.

I've had a intake manifold plate lift under boost with several bolts loose and one missing. I usually run 40 psi boost and after the intake manifold came loose, boost dropped to 28 psi and a lot less power. Truck was also very smoky. Once all bolts tighted, boost returned to 40 psi.

Look for a loose line or gauge issue. Since the EGT's haven't changed the boost is likely the same, just the reading is messed up.
