Boost Loss

I noticed yesterday that my max boost has dropped from 37psi to 32psi max.



I've done the usual checking of the hose clamps and my air filter, but there's nothing obvious that I can see that could be the cause.



Do any of you think it could be the IAC(sp?) sensor?



Is there a way that I can do a pressure test on it to see if my hoses have any leaks?

Check your lift pump pressures and fuel filter. When my lift pump was going bad at the Muncie event last year I lost about 5 pounds of boost (from about 38 to 33).

AIT Sensor?

Do you mean the AIT (Air Intake Temperature) Sensor? If so, there is a short article about it in the new TDR mag (issue 34 pg 46). You can run resistance checks on it to check it out...

wowxy , you can pressurize the intake tract at the turbo and spray a solution of soay water on everything in the intake tract to find a leak .



a tell tale will be to cruise down a flat road road with constant peddle pressure , watch the gauge , if it drops off after reaching its max level then you definitly have a leak.



go the the local home center ( home depot) get a 4" thraded PVC pipe cap , go the the tool section , campbell hausfield has a small 1/4 npt gate valve that is male female ... get that and a quick disconnect adaptor . drill and tap the 4" pvc cap to except the 1/4 npt and screw in the valve and then the quick disconnect fitting , remove the air filter/hopusing and put the cap in the house it tighten it . connect to your air source and fill the system with 20 psi , be careful the intake hose expands and if you get to carried away the hose will blow , don't ask how i know that .



with it pressurized , shut off the little ball valve and spray the soapy water on the connections and on the top of the intake ...



if it makes lots of bubbles anywhere ,you found the leak ...

I'm gonna try pulling the IAT sensor and checking it first, then the fuel pressure, then the boost system.
