Got my pyro and boost gauge from PDR today. Those guys are really good, fast, and nice. Looks like they're gonna get more of my money...

Wanted to get the boost gauge in, 'cause it looks easy, and I had a little time to work on it. Boost went in fine, but the autometer pillar pod plastic rivet thingies are not gonna work. They seemed ok, but I pulled 'em to re-arrange stuff, and they don't hold now. Can I find these anywhere? Finding short fat screws to use there would work, if they're available, as would pop rivets, as a last resort.

I took it for a test run to check the gauge and press... it'll make 20 psi at 65 mph in 4th, floored uphill (no tach yet... ). So, anyone compare, do I have a 16cm housing?

Pyro next, if I can make the pillar pod stay put...

Thanks,

John

autometer pillar pod plastic rivet thingies

WHat are you talking about? In te 3 times I've done this, I've never some across this. I just used some screws similar to what holds up the a-pillar. (might have used some from the a-pillar) Seems like I might have had to drill a hole on the lower part by the bottom of the windshield. Hafta look and see for sure. Wasnt a bad fit either time.

You can get the push-in pieces at any good hardware store. I found mine at ACE. I broke 2 the first time I had to take the thing off. There is also a re-usable platic rivet that would work probably better for this. They are also availalbe at better hardware stores.

I glued a couple of stainless steel nuts to the underside of the stock pillar and then used two stainless steel screws to fastened the pyro & boost pod.

I know what you mean. I had my pod installed for about two weeks and then I had to drop it to add a couple of wires. I trashed the rivets taking the pod off.

My pod has been propped up with a folded napkin wedged in between it and the dash ever since.

But the rivets would look much nicer ..... :)
