i don't know what i would do without you guys. i installed my gages about

3 months ago, pyro, trans, boost. but since i installed my boost gage i have

been loosing boos pressure i now because when is a hot day i don't get a

reading at all. i was using nylon tubing i don't know if i wasn't tightenig the

compression nut the right way. but anyway today i changed the tubing to

copper and i think i am getting a short because the gage makes a noise and

it gets hot . so i disconnected the copper tubing and the noise stopped and

also stopped getting hot . so i don't know if the tubing is causing a short because other wires are bad or you just can not use copper tubbing .

please help, i can not drive my truck until i fix this problem.

any input i would appreciate.

the problem with copper tubing is that it will transmit engine vibrations all the way to the gauge and could cause a buzzing sound.

as far as a "short" goes, there is no electrical connection to the boost gauge other than the lights. i can't imagine there is anything electrical going on unless the back case of your gauge is metal and there is some unusual reaction between the light supply and the tube. don't forget, copper is a good conductor of heat. you could actually be seeing heat generated in the engine compartment transfering up the tube.

you really shouldn't have a problem with the plastic tubing. make sure it is away from any sharp edges and heat. i put a piece of regular vacuum line over my tube where it goes through the firewall. most of all, don't overtighten the nuts at either end. it could cause the ferrule to cut through the tube. normally no more than 1/4 turn past the finger tight point is good enough.

good luck
