Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) What turbo? power questions

With my mods I had a J-hook on my waist gate and could only produce 24 psi of boost. I recently installed a Jammer BB turbo, hoping to increase my boost pressure. Now I am hardpressed to hit 23. I checked my intercooler boots for leaks-no leaks, I checked my gauge-gauge is fine. I am very discouraged. Any ideas?

I have a EZ and a j-hook and I have only been able to make 24-25 psi, For me i think I just don't have enough fuel and i would geuss the same for you even with the 275's. I'm no experst but thats my geuss.

thats all you want to hit with that turbo anyway(stock HY), anything over that you're just heating air.....

more importantly is , what are your EGTS?

boost alone doesnt make HP.....

Here is are some boost pressures for my truck, measured at the manifold:

Stock = 22 psi steady state

Stock + boost elbow = 22 psi steady state

Stock + boost elbow = 25 psi max

Smarty = 25 psi max (don't know steady state)

Smarty + boost elbow = 32 psi max

Smarty + boost elbow + Helix2 = 29 psi max (don't know steady state)

The boost elbow is the one you get with an EZ.

What are you looking to do with your truck that you are dicouraged? You really don't have big enough injectors to ask for more boost out of the new turbo. You can add a boost elbow... ... when you start hitting 32psi you need a different air filter.

Have to ask though, you sure your EZ is working and the truck is not defueling? If that is the case no matter what you do you will hit that 20+psi wall. Cause with mine when I had a EZ and DD2's in it 32 psi was easy to achieve. Now wit current mods 55 to 60 psi is what I am pushing of good air... ... not the superheated air of the stock charger at 45psi... ...

The boost sounds about right to me.

The Jammer BB turbo is very efficient, and 23psi with it is probably better than 28psi with the stock HY.

An EZ and 275s is a pretty mild combo, and not a lot of fuel.

If your EGTs are in check, you have enough boost.

You don't buy a turbo to increase boost. You buy it to lower EGTs. Sometimes more boost lowers EGTs-- sometimes it makes them HIGHER (off the map, high drive pressure, etc).

21psi of boost is enough air for 350hp with no smoke and controlled EGT. You are only running ~300hp, so you have plenty of boost.

Probably all that leftover Kentucky Fried Chicken you've got running through that truck. . By the way, I have someone who may want your old stock turbo... ... Call me when you get a chance
