I have been fighting this problem for quite a while now. It started when I bought a set of stock injectors to put in leu of the 100hp sticks currently in. I installed them and took off the next day and what the *ell, temps cruising were between 1000 and 1400 degrees with the comp on 1x1 :{ Fuel mileage was also horrible. The boost wasnt what it should have been. Cruising was 5-7 psi and I couldnt get the boost to go above 23 no matter what where previously it would go to 31 with the j-hook and bigger injectors.

I played with the boots a while, found some small slits, and so I ordered BD boost and installed them. Top boost then was 26-27 but EGTs didnt change and power still seemed to be way down.

I installed the bigger injectors now and still am having the same problem. No BOOST :{

What am I missing?? Is it possibly the intercooler leaking or the turbo bad? I know the hy doesn't cool the 100 hp sticks but that means it should be like before where the thing would lite and go from 10-13 all the way to 31 in no time at all.

Thanks ahead for all the help and I need all the ideas no matter how odd they may sound. I just need to fix this problem!

You need to use a pressure rig to accurately test for boost leaks. You may have more than that going on.

Does the turbo spin freely by hand? How much movement is there in the shaft?

Also, are there any codes? What are you using to act as a boost fooler? It may be toast and you could be defueling.

Dave

Definately sounding like a boost leak, need to test the system, maybe an issue with the intercooler, intake manifold gasket, or intake horn gasket.

The comp is doing the boost fooling and no there arent any codes. Atleast there arent any when the key turned thingy. The turbo is the stock hy. I am in the little town of Chickasha, OK right now for business but will be home on sat to check shaft play.

Pressure Rig? What is that and how do I use it??

The deal seems odd because it started right when the stock injectors went in. Is there something under the valve cover that could have got damaged?

I didnt think about the intake manifold gasket. I will check that out too when I get home. Does anyone have pictures of there manifold installed? I want to make sure I installed the bolts right in the top. It didnt look right because the rubber seal comes up around the top of the head slightly and I dont remember what it looked like originally.

Thanks

Tristan

You could have a high pressure leak if you bent a tube.

Was the valve trai loosened up or were the rockers just removed? They should be making some noise if loose.

I had a bad MAP and caused all kinds of power issues. No codes, but a new sensor fixed it. Also, check all your connections, especially grounds.

Do you have an e-brake? If so, pull and clean the MAP and IAT with brake cleaner.

Dave

I was sitting bored in one of the meetings and realized I forgot to say that it lopes really bad at idle. It lopes to the point that the bed and cab are shaking back and forth. I always thought that I would like a lope but not with everything shaking!

Any ideas for that and also my mileage is 14 at best. Could this one thing that is plagueing me be an answer to all these things??

Thanks

Tristan

Ok finally checked everything

turbo has slight up and down but nothing in and out and isnt hitting the sides

cleaned and put dielectric grease in MAP and IAT connections

checked ground for comp and also one on the intake horn (any others?? and where??)

gaskets on intake horn are new as of 10k ago or so. Checked manifold gasket and couldnt see any cracks, should I replace to just rule it out??

high pressure tubes where?? rockers werent messed with just the injectors.

Just hauled my horse trailer again today and temps were 1200 give or take 100 degrees cruising at 65. It weighs approx. 7k or so with the one horse. Any other ideas of anything to check? I want to check everything before I take the three hour drive up to J&H in Redding.

Thanks all

Tristan

It sounds like the injector installation caused the problem, since things were fine before. Do you smell diesel? Maybe one of the injector lines is loose or not properly seated. Double-check #5 & #6.

Did you count your injector washers? Maybe one is missing or one is doubled. You'd have to go through the entire injector install process again to determine this. If the problem persists, get an oil sample to see there is diesel in the crankcase

Good luck,
