I've been told that the 2005 CTD's should make somewhere between 25 and 30 pounds of boost. I'm getting 34 to 36 psi. on the auto meter gauge, and can maintain 30 psi. after the wastegate opens. Is this normal or is my gauge not accurate? Does anyone have any info? The Bully Dog programer is not curently installed, so it is in stock form other than no muffler.

my 04 305/555 can get to 26psi [gate opens at like 22-23psi and it will creep up higher with higher rpm]... you need to load it up real good and see what it will make... 3rd gear wot to 3000+rpm on a steep hill should make you some more boost. .

What good does all that boost do you if you're making it above the HP peak of the engine?

This is my first Cummins so I dont really know about previous boost ranges. I believe that from what I have read on various sites, that the 600 and up are very different from the previous 305 and earlier 24v Cummins. Computer controlled waste gate is definitely different.

Sounds like my boost levels are normal. Wasn't sure, this is my first cummins also. Love it so far. Came over from a duramax, just need to get back up to the performance levels I'm used to. Can't wait :-laf but the wife sure can :-{} . Thanks for the feedback.
