I just recently put in a #6 plate and a boost elbow. When I'm WOT I'm only hitting like 26#'s. However, when the truck is in overdrive at like 60mph, I can tag 32#'s. Does it have to do with my torque converter? Thanks - Buck
I would have to say that it has a lot to do with the stock converter. the reason you can get higher boost in overdrrive is because the TC clutch is locked.
Diesel's react to load, higher the load the more boost. I have a manual trans, each gear higher puts more load on the engine. 3rd gear I might hit 30-32 PSI, 4th like 34-35, and 5th I hit 37 PSI. On a steep grade in 5th I'll hit 38 PSI.
