So how much of those 30-40psi readings you BOMBed folks get are from just adding the wastegate orifaces or do you need the plates and injectors, etc? Just learning and performing my "get healthy" checklist.

I get 18# stock, with no load, just holding it to floor getting on freeway for example. Would just simply adding the oriface or plugging the hose get you 30psi -- or -- does that require the additional fuel/HP of the plates and injectors to provide the additional exhaust to spin the turbo.

Not really going to run that way. Want to test operation, check for leaks, etc. Recall someone mentioning you could plug the hose from the turbo to the wastegate. Be careful not too over boost. OK what is over boost on a stock engine?

Sly,
On my 97 I slid the stock plate forward and I also have a boost elbow another member gave me. I can pull 35lbs of boost with those two modifications. I also have the Scotty filter set-up and I can get the EGT's up to the 11350 mark pretty quick if I really get into it.

Boost is raised with fuel. Don't plug the line, adjust the waist-gate. I installed 300 injectors, had my plate "shaped" and the timing set. With the timing came the waist- gate set. I have the AutoMeter pyro and boost gauge. The boost being the 35 lb read. When I get down and go the boost will peg at 35 so I don't know just what I have. I do know from 60 to 90 takes me right at 4 sec. I have the five speed so off the line ain't that good.
Hope this answers something. My experence.

OK, so I kinked the line and held it way with vicegrips. Boost easily ran to 26psi and look to creap up from there as I rev'd up third pulling onto freeway. Never went over 28 during my test.

Air filter and intake look OK. No oil from the K&N either. Checked all clamps. A few were loose. Not bad but did take tightening w/o any torque applied. Gonna assume this means no boost leaks, and things are functioning normally.

On to that fuel filter change.
