I have been a member for over a year now and i mostly get valuable info from reading everyones questions and answers, however, since i have installed gauges i have some questions.

I bought my truck over a year ago and from what i was told it was completly stock. Since the gauge install i have noticed that at wot my boost is at 28lbs. From what i see i should be at 22 lbs for a stock truck. How is this possible? And Fuel pressure at wot is between 7 - 8 lbs and 13-14 at an idle. Should i be concerned about this? I have removed the silencer ring and installed a k&n air filter. other than that it is a 2001 2500, automatic with no mods. Any thoughts? What should i look for? Thanks!

Buddy's 01 24v 6spd only pulls 22lbs or so then the computer cuts it back to 20

i 'm interesed to here others reponce

Look for a hook type device on your turbo wastegate to see if its forcing it to stay open. I've heard of some people using a 16 penny nail to keep it open on the HY turbos. Also, check for a boost fooler device attached to your map sensor (back of engine on driver's side). My BD boost fooler is a very compact inline device and is hard to see.

Try cycling your key three times quickly and you'll see a code self-check performed in the odometer screen. You should have an over-boost code if you don't have a boost fooler of some sort on the map sensor.

At 28 lbs, I would think it would possibly have RV (275) injectors or something similar.

Ok, so i looked for some device to hold the waste gate open and there is nothing. Also looked for a boost fooler and cannot find anything also. Checked the self check and have the following codes p 0500, p 1693 and p0234. I am even more confused now with the boost issue... ... ...

Maybe the wastegate is sticky??? It may be staying open longer, causing more boost. If there is no turnbuckle, then its got to be a problem with the wastegate/ OR whoever owned the truck put injectors in it and is causing it to build more boost before the wastgate can catch it.

the wastegate tube could be blinded off too. Edge supplied a slug to fit into the wastegate or a 22ga shell fits too.

I believe that the most probable suggestion has already been offered, a stuck waste gate.

I couldn't help but wonder.

Might a boost fooler restrictor elbow still be installed on the intake. That would allow you to get more boost BEFORE the waste gate could activate. I would take out the brass elbow with the hose that runs to the waste gate on the intake beneath the turbo. Look to see if it has a pin hole or a 1/8 size hole. If it has a pin hole it should have been removed with any boost fooler that was installed. The larger hole is stock.

Just my two cents.

What i found out is that there is an adjustable rod end attached to the wastegate. Since i posted this question i purchased a EZ box (needed a boost fooler anyways) and adjusted it boost with the box installed to 32lbs. What a difference! Sorry to not clear up with my findings sooner.

Everyone have a good holiday!

Chris
