I am looking fro a boost activated 12 volt switch for a water injection system. Anyone know where I can find this?

You might want to check with some people, I understand that water is a real KILLER if injested in a diesel. If that's what you had planned.

I set up a system last summer on my truck that was manually activated. It was used only when towing with my EGTgetting above 1200'. When activated it lowered the EGT 250' and gave a boost in performance. If you know where Afton hill is out side of West Yellowstone I was able to stay in 5th towing my trailer (29' Kit) and a boat (GVW 18,950). The EGT climbed to about 1250' at about the middle at 65MPH I engaged the water injector and dropped to 900' and was able to left on the throttle. Large stationary diesels use water injection to keep EGT down and to reduce NOx.

Where did you get the water injection system? It sounds pretty interesting to lower EGTs.

I am an Automotive Instructor and one of my optional advance performance tasks for the kid is to build a water injection system. I set it up just like the one I have the students do only leaving out the full throttle switch and manually activating it. I want to now make it better for this summers up coming fun.

Tried to answer earlier but my password didn't work. I used to build water injection when I was playing around with turbos on gas. I used Hobbs switches, available in various pressure settings. I used to get mine from NAPA
 
oooooooohhhhhhhhh---where does the nozzle go? how big a H2O pump to use? if all else escapes me, how 'bout external blastage onto the intercooler?---sounds like potentially a $50 BOMB component that might make countless yeehahs---rich

FYI... Water injection is a big thing with those who have High perf. Pulling tractors. They usually set up a high pressure pump operated by a starter motor. The H20 lines are piped to each of the intake runners in which nozzles are installed. Some guys use a h2o etoh mix with some success, but most use very cold h2o. It definitely puts the fire out when the rpm's are peaked and fire is shooting out of the exhaust. Saves alot of burnt pistons and valves this way. It is critical though to make sure that the amount of h2o injected is neither too much nor too little. Some guys even put a nozzle in the intake to the turbo compressor... . I wouldn't but i've seen it done. Check it out!!
 
My first attempt last summer was shooting the water in the turbo. THe next one I build will be strait above the intake.

It seems that we have quashed any fears about doing it, now it is just a matter of doing it right.
