27# is more than enough for your plate. Turning up the boost only takes more power to create the boost, your air gets hotter at the higher pressure and with no more fuel the extra air develops no more power. There have been many posts on this subject. The trick is to get the correct boost for your fuel. Not enough boost and you get smoke, too much you lose efficiency. There is a point where you will get the best balance. Mine used to go to 32#, I slowly turned it down as I tested during WOT up a steep hill. When I reached the point where I had the lowest egt and it still didn't have black smoke I was at optimum pressure. On my truck that was 26#.
