I have a 2003 3500 HO cummings and inquirying about boosting the HP and the torque. I pull a 12,000 # fifth-wheel trailer. A person here in town says he can replace the chip and boost HP and torque for about $800. This would includea variable adjustment to allow from no boost to a maximum boost. Is that resonable? Also, does it affect the warranty?
Previous to this truck I had a 98 2500 cummings and had the fuel injectors changed to boost the HP and torque. After a year or two I began to notice the transmission chatering and slipping. I assume this was cauased by the weak transmission in the 98 Dodge.
