I’m hoping some of you gurus out there can help with the Pros and Cons concerning the Borg Warner Vs. GM Governor Pressure solenoids. My OEM is on its way out so its time to replace and update. Thanks in advice for any information.

There are no cons, the OE solenoid is a POS. The transducer is just as big a POS and there is no fix except replace it occasionally. Either one or both could be the source of shifting problems.

Thank you - Yes I understand that the OEM's are POS - Amen to that! I was just wondering if the GM Solenoid was worth the cost over the Borg Warner unit?

The GM style solenoid is a Borg Warner also. It is just a lot bigger version and will handle pressures and dirty fluid better.

Are they better? Absolutely, especially with certain shift kits.

May not solve your problem though if the transducer is the real source is what I am saying. Have had some people put the GM style solenoid in with not replacing the transdcuer and it made things WORSE. Replace the transdcuer and problem solved. You can pretty much forget about solenoid problems with the GM style and just worry about the transducer.

Awesome thanks!!! GM style it is. I am replacing the transducer as well that has already been ordered, just was on the fence with the Solenoids..

I picked up my truck with 52k on it and all fluid compartments were on the maintenance list. When it came to the transmission, I decided to upgrade while the pan was off and put in the GM style solenoid kit along with the transducer. Took the time to carefully swap the hardware out, flushed the trans and added a Goerend pan. All that was 25k miles ago and shifts just fine. No problems before installing the kit, but it's my daily driver and preventive maintenance is high on my list.

That kit has the OE style solenoid not the GM style, here is what you want if nothing else is obvious http://www.electricaladvantage.net/rehdsolenoidsensorkit00.aspx.

The Cascade stuff has been less than idyllic when installed. More than a few cases for transducer and\or solenoid bad out of the box. Just be advised if problems are present after the install suspect bad parts.

Retain the stock pan gasket, it us reusable. The solenoids and harness are fine if you are having issues with cooking transducers and codes for the solenoids but it requires removal of the VB to install. The gov solenoid does not, it just bolts on after the pan is dropped.
