2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Boss Plow Wiring

I have had a Boss snow plow on my 02 for 2 years know without a problem, but this morning on my way to work somthing smelled hot and my headlights started to flicker. I checked the switch for the plow lights and it was so hot you couldn't touch it, when I pulled the switch out the insulation on the spade connectors was melted a little. I am not that good with electrical work, but would this be caused by a bad switch or maybe a loose connection that would arcing ? Any help would be greatly apperciated.

Did the installer put a relay in for the plow lights?



The OEM switch is questionable at best. The extra load might have been too much for it.

I will look into that thanks for the reply. I would much rather not have my truck catch fire because of no relay.
