Jack Advice

Ok, who makes, sells an American made heavy duty 6,8, or 10 ton bottle jack? For the life of me, I can't find one locally. Everyone has the $40 made in China jobbers, but they're junk. Any ideas?

Thx,

Sid

hard to find anything made domestically... i have a 12t enerpac, and it is made in china too. . works well enough [i have a custom axle cradle on it]

My six-ton Kragen jack works great for me. Unfortunately,it too is made in China,but so are my new Toyos. :{

Is it just me or is it a sad day when you can not find a US made product? There has to be something out there. I'll keep looking.

I echo your sentiment. Both of my bottle jacks are Made in China.

We probably make them here, they're just exported to a different country. :)

I don't remember if Sears has American or Chinese made bottle jacks, but I got a 20 ton there a few years ago for my press, and it works great.

Check with SPX/OTC for US made jacks. When I purchased a 10T porta power, they offered a US built ram as an option, but it was ridicuously more. Very sad indeed.

Hein-Werner (formerly Lincoln apparently) jacks are made in the USA, although the vendor I found doesn't show any bottle jacks by them.

I also have a Sears bottle jack, which also works great, and it is made in China. It's in my truck at all times and I have never used the original equip cheap jack. Hummm, I wonder if the original equip jack is US made? :rolleyes:

I have a Made in USA Hein Werner floor jack. It is VERY well made. A mechanic at our shop has a KYB (Kayaba) bottle jack made in Japan (much better quality control than china) and it is a good unit. Kayaba makes the hydraulic pumps for most of the Japanese forklift companies.

It is truely sad when we cannot find good equipment and tools made in our own country anymore. If I cannot find USA made, I at least try to buy from a country known for quality products like Japan or Germany.

The local big truck shop sells the Kayaba jack. I am thinking of getting myself one soon before they decide to outsource to communist china too!
