i bought an engine from some guy in cali, he told me it was a running long block out of an 04 six speed, i knew something was up when he only wanted 200 dollars for it, but hey the cummins is tough, i tore the engine down and only found two things out of the ordinary, a missing rocker foot number six exh, and a small dent or burn mark in the very top of number 6 hole, all of the pistons look like they have low mileage, cam, crank, and rods look new, found nothing wrong with the cylinder head, and also noticed it isnt a h. o. block, it has the small green plastic oil jets from the mains and not the block, also noticed a poor fresh hone job on the piston bores, i can have a local machinist sleeve the hole and hone the rest for rebuild for less than 400 dollars, looks like i will have a long block spare with a full rebuild for around 1500 bucks, even though it is an s. o. motor, the funny thing is i wonder how much that guy lost in not turning in his core:-laf
