Well based on what is going on with Chrysler and reading all about the problems you guys are having with your Dodge trucks, along with the fact that I did not really need a Truck to hual heavy stuff. I bought a Toyota Tundra. If I do ever need a Truck to hual the big stuff and Dodge is still using the Cummins I will then buy a Dodge Cummins. I believe that the Cummins is the best. I jsut wish the Japs put them in their trucks.
Thanks for the input.
Dennis

Just for the record I LOVE MY TRUCK. I have had no problem's what so ever. knock on wood.
As for Toyota I have nothing bad to say about them, I still have my dad's old 1977 pickup, My oldest son had a 97, he had to trade after our granddaughter came along. As for problem's with Dodge, I think you'll find all makes will have some problems. Just at TDR we talk about problems, so hopefully we can help each other out. At lease that one of the things I get out of the TDR. Not all of us here have problems, we just like to fellowship. And God forbid if i ever do have a problem with my Dodge I know where to find the answer. #ad

Dennis, you have made a very good choice in a light truck. If I didnt need to haul anything larger than a washing machine then I might have chosen a toyota also. It has already been said, but, when you read about the trucks on this site you will find a lot of people complaining about problems. that is because this is where you come for the answers. I have not had any problems with my truck. The only thing I had done was the front end aligned a few weeks after i bought it. NO big deal. Good luck with your new truck. You should be happy with it, as long as you dont have to pull anything or haul anything.

Dennis, Hope you got what you needed. Toyotas are fine trucks. I traded my Toyota for the Dodge/Cummins because my Toyota could not handle a cabover camper off road. The Cummins gets within 3 mpg of the 4 banger Toyota motor in all city driving and gets slightly better mpg on the highway. The Dodge carries my 1800lb cabover off road no problem. I guess it boils down to your needs for each application.

Toyotas are fine trucks. Ihad 3 of them up until 99,Then I started switching them out,I needed more truck. My 83 longbed was the best, followed by the 92,and then the 95. All three of them were trouble free over the years. I only hope my Dodges hold up the same way. So far,so good.

Sorry to hear about your descion. I must have missed something??? Who would consider a Toylota when comparing it to a Ram--either a gasser or a diesel??

Dodge always has been and will be the BEST.

Just my $. 02 worth:

I have a '86 Toyota w/240k, and a '96 Ram with 60k. The Toyota is my "Reliable" vehicle. Almost never breaks, easy to fix, cheap to run, etc... The Dodge ALWAYS has a problem of some sort, more squeeks and rattles then I would care to talk about, and in stock trim is nowhere near what everyone raves about. BUT, once BOMBED, is an excellent tow vehicle, and I would not go back to a (stock) gas motor.

I've owned 4 Toto's. This Ram is the best ever. Also you read these threads and what % is it of truck owners? 1, maybe 2. All will give trouble and some in all brands will be nigh unto impossible to fix. Still, good luck with the Toto and have a very happy "CHRISTMAS"

Wow Dennis, I'm pretty surprised. I thought you were sold on getting that dually. I guess we scared you off. Even with my "minor" problems, I have no regrets at all. I saw a 2001 2500 identical to mine on the freeway today (except Garnet Red). I kept taking turns passing him and letting him pass me just to look at his beautiful truck. I found myself feeling envious of him because I was in my minivan. #ad

Anyway, good luck to you, and enjoy your new truck. I understand the Tundra is a fine machine.

I've had four Toyota and all were excellent. just sold my '90 4X4 for $7K. I'm sure you'll love your truck.

I'm trying to get the bitter taste of having to have the auto-trans on my '96 rebuilt last week at $1,800 (Merry Christmas, honey). Extended warranty ended in Sep. #ad

But, all in all, I love those Rams, just like my wife, for better or for worse. #ad

See it's like this. I have a 95 Landcruiser that is the coolest truck in the world. They are built like a brick sh** house and last forever. I had a choice, I could sell my LC and buy a 3500 4x4, which i did not need or I could sell my wifes 92 Lexus and get a new Tundra, that is fast and will last forever. Well I finally came to the conclusion that I just could not give up my Landcruiser. If you ever owned one you would understand. Don't get me wrong I still think that the Cummins is great, I just don't have enough money to keep my LC and get the Cummins. Life is full of tough decisions. Now if I needed to pull something heavy it would have made the decision easier but that is not the case. You guys enjoy your Cummins and maybe some day I can justify getting one.
