I am trying to find a regular box for my truck... but I would like your guys's opinions on it...

These pictures are a little old, low quality, and my truck was dirty, but you get the gist.

Should I keep the flatbed or go for a box?

What do you use the pickup for? I think the flatbed looks alright on it. I might know where a box is for it. It's in south central oregon and it's white.

Chris

Why considering switching? Look good the way it is. :D

Too bad you aren't closer and have a 2G dually. I want to put on a flatbed.

I prefer the box. The previous owner of this truck said he was about to put a flatbed on because the bed is pretty rough. I probly would have not bought it, if it had a flatbed. I want a nicer box, but will hold off til I find the needle in the haystack- a silver one that matches mine. There are a few silver old body style Dodges around here, I'm waitn on their slant six to quit so I can offer them cash and I'll get a better bed! Your truck looks ok. But would look a hell of alot better with a matching box. Stick to the flat bed before you go to a off color box. Or find out how much to have an off color box buffed and painted to match your truck. looks good w/ the fb. also more usable and ya can load over the side w/o damage or dents or paint damage and if ya do scratch the paint a can of spraypaint have it lookin good as new. with some higher sideboards ya have a heck of a lot more room for carryin stuff

if ya got 4wheelers ya can carry 2 plus have a little xtra room vs 1 on a pu bed.

and if u carry a camper ya got lots of space under the side overhangs to store stuff

and if ya pull a gooseneck or a 5er less chance of makin contact tween trlr and bedrails

and,,,,,,,,,,,,i can go on and on... ... ... . Oo.

but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,if ya dont want it,,,,,,,,,,,i can find several here in idaho w/ 1st gens that would be happy to swap ya

I am thinking about changing over for looks. I always thought a regular box would look better.

I haul trailers and hay and stuff every once in a while, but mostly it's just a daily driver.

If you were closer I'd trade, I like the way that bad is low I've been looking for a flatbed but most that i've seen would add in the order of 5-8 inches to the standard bed height. Could you show a side view close up that shows how the bed sits down on the frame?

I would, but right now I am in college (freshmen in architecture... GO VANDALS!). The earliest I could get back to my truck is around the holidays.

Sorry, just had to throw in some cheesy school spirit.

I voted flatbed... . for all the reasons muddymess mentioned, and the ones he didn't mention.

you don't see as many around so it's different.

If you could find an architect somewhere you could design sonme really different looking sides, rails, etc. :>)

Good luck in school.

Jay

I am teetering on the fence. I like both. One minute I lean one way, and then the next minute I lean the other... .

Dilemma's, dilemmas!!!!

CB,

I like the FB for work, the box for looks. Unless we're talking one of the nice aluminum beds!

Things the FB can do better:

- Carry a big round bale of hay and roll it off easily.

- Carry wide stuff

- Haul junk to the dump w/out worrying about scratches

Of course these are things I tend to do fairly often. My current truck is a '93 D350, and it looks great with the box -- I get a lot of compliments on it. But if my old chore truck were to die, I'd put a FB on.

Good Luck!

Dave

'93 D350, Westach pyro/boost, 16cm housing going on next week!

CB-

Yours is one of the few 3/4 tons Ive seen that looks good with w flatbed. Unless I found a box that matched for cheap, I'd keep what you've got. That's one of the evils of buying a used vehicle- you cant order everything you want on it. I had a 93 with an aluminum flatbed a few years ago. Best first gen truck I had seen in a while. It looked rugged enough to fit in on a construction site or on a farm and not look pansified; yet still cleaned up nicely- good paint, running boards, flatbed custom made to fit the truck. Too bad that airhead woman turned left in front of me at that light and wrinkled the right fender. With 4. 10s, and 4x4, I still got 18/20 mpg.

Daniel

PS- sounds like you cant have a vehicle at school. bummer. Do you have to stay in the dorms, too? THat's the worst thing they could have done to me. Way too many female distractions.
