OK, I know this has probably been slammed into the ground on numerous ocassions but was wondering which box is the most aggressive, hands down! Or is it a case of them both really being so close that the differences are undetectable. I have decided to upgrading from the True Torque Power Module to one of the aforementioned boxes. Since they are both virtually the same price, it will boil down to the numbers. Which one takes the gold?:D Oo.

Well, I went from a DD True Torque Power Module to an Edge Comp box. I won't make any assumptions about what you already know about the Edge Comp and the DD Ultimate Module, so I'll spell it all out.

The DD TTPM is really an Edge EZ that was slightly reprogrammed to better match the fueling characteristics of DD's injectors.

The DD Ultimate Module is also an Edge Comp in disguise, also slightly reprogrammed and optimized for the DD injectors.

Since I went from the TTPM to the Edge, I can only make limited observations. I have the DD Stage 3's as you can see in my sig below.

It was my impression that with the TTPM my truck sounded a little smoother when running, and it sounds just barely a little rougher with the Edge box with their programming. Rough may not be the best word... . rather meaner I guess... . The TTPM sounded more like a purrrrrrr than a mean growl. But they are both excellent boxes. So, if you have DD injectors, it may be worth going with their version - the Ultimate Fueling Module. Otherwise, maybe the Edge brand Comp box.

The DD boxes have more conservative timing than their Edge counterparts. I would go with the DD 10 times over the Edge personally, I just do not like to hear the hammering of the high timing. I do not think there is a dyno that will detect the difference in pak power between the two either. Just my opinion.

While we're on the subject... ... . Can someone chime in and let me know if it is worthwhile to get the "competition upgrade" for $129. 00. This is supposed to keep from de-fueling at 2700 RPM.

What are the advantages of not de-fueling? Will this allow you to have better HP numbers at the upper end of the RPM?

Thanks in advance,

Charles

$129?? wow..... I got my "Hot" Edge Comp box for only an additional $50 over a regular Comp box. Sent it directly to Edge themselves and that's all they charged last September to upgrade the programming. I had it programmed Hot before I ever installed it, so I can't tell you what the difference was like.

Charles, I asked this question Sat. and was made aware of the added strain on the vp44. Since it does'nt defuel, the pump has to work harder in the higher RPMs.

It's definitely worth it... very cool. got me 2lbs boost and way darker clouds :D:D:D

The dreag comp is a little hotter and fuels to to moon on the revs you really notice the difference, or at least I did.

It's a blast!!!!

I've run them both, and switch chips back and forth. They are both aggressive, the DD chip just gives the impression it comes on a little smoother. Not enough to detect, unless you're really looking for it. I prefer the DD with the injectors I'm running, though.

Either way, you won't be disappointed. #5,5 is fun no matter which one is in there.
