boy am I stupid, it's a 97 !!!

In my previous post about the IAT I stated that my son's 96 had really dropped in mileage and was puting out alot of black smoke. I received two replys that on a 96 the IAT only controls the grid heater. Is this the same case for a 97. I was wrong about the year of his truck!!!DOH

The IAT only controls grid heater funtions on 12 valves, up to 98. 5

is the power off too or just a lot of smoke?
