I have a couple brake questions as a new Dodge owner

1) Is it possable to use a "pressure bleeder" on the Dodge master cylinder. Ive been using a "Speedy bleeder" on my old Mercedes for some time. It looks like an air fitting could be jury rigged to the m/s cover but would it hold the 15 or so PSI?

2) The "book" says use Dot 3 but wouldnt Dot 4 be a better choise?

BTW I flush my Mercedes brake systems every couple years using the pressure bleeder which makes it a piece of cake :-laf

In 25 yrs. I haven't come across a reason not to use a pressure bleeder an anything [ that dose'nt mean that there isn't one ] then dot rating , we do all kinds of upgrading ,so putting in a better fluid I think is a better idea, I don't remember but I think at 4-5 it is silicone based whitch makes it less reactive with moisture and thats whats wrong with 3 or less.

I believe the Dot 5 is silicone based, Dot 4 is not.

So how is the master cylinder getting the pressure, maybe a special cap available to hook up the speedy bleeder?

just did my 03 with the apex magnum, it comes with different adapters, the 1101 works for dodge, it has a couple hooks and chain that goes around the master cylinder . It worked great, took almost a quart .

"just did my 03 with the apex magnum"

Humm. . Does this apex magnum bleeder use the small "quick release" type air fitting too change adaptors, don't know exactly what there called but the small version of a regular "shop compressor" fitting? If so maybe I can just get the adaptor and use the bleeder I have. I noticed on the pre "94"s they used a metal m/s cap.

Thanks, actually someone sent me the site for the "Speedi Bleeder", which is what I have. I was spelling it wrong in my search (brake fluid has long since destroyed the writting on the unit. ) Its a Canadian co. and They have an adaptor (C200 for 2nd gen trucks. )
