I had my Tekonsha brake controller mounted under the dash on the right side of the knee bolster. Two problems. 1,it is a tad too low and 2,my foot occasionally hits it when on the go pedal. I searched the archives and nothing there. It really fits nicely where the hood latch goes, looks like it belongs there. But I would like to know where to mount the hood latch mechanism where it will be solid enough mounting and out of the way of foot travel. any suggestions??

I mounted my just over the edge of the tunnel, the left edge of the brake control is even with the left edge of the tunnel under the dash. The control is mounted level, and it is out of the way of feet, knees and if someone sits in the middle, but it can be reached if needed.

Barracuda,

My truck is a '95 so this might not apply. I removed my ash tray and mounted the brake controller where the ash tray was. Nice and convenient there.

I actually mounted mine to the ashtray. I can drop the ashtray down to read the digital display and when in the up position it doesn't interfere with anything. Also, if I ever get sick of it, I just need to buy a new ashtray and the holes are gone.

I "poped" the DRB connector out of its holder and mounted my CB there with the brake controller mounted to the CB. Its a Uniden SSB but not real big. Its out of the way and the dealer can get at the DRB cause its hanging loose to the drivers side. No problems reaching any of the controls and the e-brake switch is mounted below the dash but to the left of the steering column. Real easy to reach but I had to cut a hole in the plate behine the bolster for the wires and switch to clear. Didnt like the switch in the place below the ashtray/lighter, too far away for "quick" use. Its the Mopar equil of the Cummins e-brake.

Just my 0. 015$ worth.

Did you leave the hood latch in it`s original position?this sounds like a good idea. I sure don`t want to drill or cut into any of the knee bolster/dash trim to mount this thing!Want a good clean appearance. Thank`s for the ideas!! #ad
