Brake Controller

I am looking for a new brake controller. I pull a trailor thats about 7,000 pounds. What has worked well? What has not? Thanks for your help This is NOT a 5ver

Prodigy has always worked good for me. Our trailer is around 12,000 lbs.

I personally like a controller that will vary the output based on the pressure of the hyd system... and Brake Smart and one other one advertised on the TDR does that... .

What makes the Brake Smart outshine the others is the ability to be in a panic stop... . and nail the brakes and get the same reaction without the wait with the trailer brakes...

We tow up to 22k lbs of trailer weight... . and when someone pulls in front of you... and you want to slow down fast, you have 2 choices the way I see it... . to reach down and manually apply the trailer brakes for full braking... . or have the Brake Smart which sees your heavy foot in hyd pressure and nails your trailer brakes... .

Any other time..... any brake controller does the job and I personally think that if you were careful with 7K you don't need much of one... .

We own several trucks... . and we have 500K miles of towing experience..... we HATE the price of the Brake Smart but feel its safer... also the one advertised here on the TDR works the same... but don't know it's pricing structure...
