thunderball---the brake dust on the front wheels is annoying but very normal. As the pads wear the dust is created and is something you can't do much about. some types of pads create more color than others. don't worry its not causing any problems. ---sam

You can minimize the dust ( more prevelant with auto )by keeping the rear brakes adjusted. I adj rears every oil change.

Get a set of dust shields from Geno's, and you'll eliminate the problem.

Denny is right. I bought a set of front dust shields from Geno's Garage and now my front wheels stay much brighter than my rear wheels. If you get a set, be careful installing them: I have bent one and the shop putting on my last set of tires bent another. A dent about the size of a good thumping will cause a very unpleasant noise when you brake. I tried and tried to get both of them back in shape. After an hour of off and on with the tire, I gave up and bought a new set. Luckily, I bent one side and the shop bent the other.

Anybody put a set on a '00 or later 3500? Work on them too? I'd like to keep my wheels cleaner too.

It seems like that now the brake pads don't have asbestos in them any more the brake dust is worse.
