Anyone have a solution for brake dust problem. Have a 3500 crew and within a few days of cleaning the front wheels they are coated in dust again. Wondering if this is something I am just going to have to live with or if there is a solution. Any help is appreciated.

Well, I don't have a solution, but I do have a question. What year and classification is your truck? The reason for the question is that my son has a 2004. 5, 3500 single wheel that gets coated fast with brake dust and I have a 2005 DRW that doesn't. Both of us still have the original brake pads.

My DRW probably get coated between the wheels and the wheel skin covers.

Mine is a 2010 srw crew 3500. The rear wheels I have no issues with. The front are a whole different story. It's pretty frustrating as the recoat in dust within only a few days. Looks like crap when dirty. It is almost to the point of why bother cleaning them.

I waxed my rims last time I washed it, and the dust takes longer to build up. . Its a nasty brown buildup, would rather see grey like the old style brakes were...

Tried those dust shields, i think theyre only recommended for steel rims. Had em on my old 05, after about 2000mi, I found the rims were loose. Retorqued the lug nuts, and after about 1500mi, they were loose again. Dust shields came off. No problems after that.

The factory pads seem to create lots of dust. My wife drove my truck for the first 18-24 months and I was SURE the pads would be gone with all the brake dust, but they are still in good shape. Go figure!. She is really bad about doing all her stopping inside the last 20 ft. before the stop sign!!!!.

Since she doesnt drive it anymore, it doesnt create NEAR the dust that it used to. Its now 4 years old and still has the stock pads on it. I do lots of towing, but I always run in tow/haul and I always brake early and slowly scrub off speed.
