Brake Guard Worked For Me

Still trying for better brakes. Installed the Brake Guard system and at first it changed nothing. Today I did several panic stops, and for the first time ever I was able to lock up all four. ( RWAL not working). The brakes feel quite a bit better, which makes me feel much better.

I had heard good things about this system from someone who does a lot of brake work on trucks that tow heavy. Most of the ones he installed them on were drums in the rear. I wanted to try it but had severe problems with my rear brakes. Shoe kept going cockeyed. After the rear conversion to discs I gave it a try.



I probably should have waited longer, getting used to the rear discs. Overall it seems to have helped some. It did absolutely nothing for the spongy pedal though. Most of that I'm sure is coming from my front brake lines. 2 years of having to mash the brakes to get the Beast to stop has taken it's toll on them. I ordered some of the lines for the front from EGR now that they make them for the 2WD trucks.



At that point I'm going to take the brake gaurd off and see how the pedal feels and the truck drives without it. After that I'll try it on again and make a better evaluation.

It seems the bulk of their false advertising was around the claim that it was a type of ABS. The company has commissioned some college students to find a way of proving their claims on the other stuff. It was interesting but didn't really seem to be hard core proof of their claims.



I tried it on advice of someone who works strickly on Ram Diesels. Though it was interesting that he had several trucks there that were for repossesing cars. Had hidden tow cradles that folded out from under the trucks. You would think they would want a quieter truck to go grabbing someones car if you know what I mean.
