Brake hose

[GSP7]

Dang brake hose burst right above the front pass side caliper on my "99 4x4 2500 deisel this morning backing out of my shop. Sprayed fluid in the concrete. Great !

Got a replacement at Napa part # 380344 napa part, "made in china" $37.00 . Got it fixed in a couple hours including going to napa. I hope that isnt a crap napa chinese hose.

Looking at rock auto parts to replace the driver side front, Centric $18, Dynamic friction $28, Raybestos $31

Hope you are looking up all of the other brake hose part #'s. If that one brake hose burst, the others are likely not far behind. I replaced all of my brake hoses in the last brake job. After 21 years of service, they needed to be replaced.

I would think you might be very happy it broke there. There are many other worse places for it to have broken.

I was a bit worried that something like that could happen with my truck, so as a preventative maintenance procedure, I change both front brake hoses about a month ago.

A friend’s RH front burst while on the way to a truck pull towing the pulling truck, a Ranger, and weights on a gooseneck. He was on a long downhill with an intersection and traffic light at the bottom. Thankfully, between it being a manual with an exhaust brake and the trailer brakes, he was able to get stopped without hitting anyone or blowing through the light. He did ruin the driver seat cushion, though…

Rockauto.com can save you some coin as long as you can plan ahead! I use them for everything that I can't get from Genos as regard to regular maintenance items. The money it saves you, helps offset for the times when something breaks and you need it now! Also great for price checks. Brake hoses seem to be the most overlooked maintenance item! I've seen too many people kink them hard when working on the brakes! Have a set of hooks that I made to hang the calipers with and always look closely at them when at the wheels for noticeable changes. Glad your not also having to replace the seat cover and cushion as @BigPapa had mentioned!
