I have been feeling a brake pedal pulse for the last couple of weeks and planned to pull the brakes down and check everything this weekend, but the issue became a priority today. I had front brake failure on an interstate off ramp coming home, so I limped it into the garage and pulled the tires. What I found was the passenger side rotor had separated at the ventilation webs! Rusted right through! The outer ring was still attached to the hub and the inner ring was swinging in the breeze hanging on the spindle.
The driver's side rotor web was fractured about 1/3 of the way around and the rest were paper thin.
This truck is an 01 2wd with 135k miles.
Just a heads-up for you all to check closely when into the brakes and make sure the important parts don't corrode completely away.
Yeah, it's a MI truck...
